FAQs (including refund info)

Do I need to bring my own motorcycle?

No, training motorcycles are provided. If you have a scooter or two-wheeler that doesn't shift, you can bring that to class and get an endorsement for scooter only.

Will I have to spend a lot of money on motorcycle gear?

No. There is required gear, but it does not need to be motorcycle-specific. We can lend you a helmet if you need to borrow one.

  • DOT approved helmet
  • Eye protection (glasses, goggles, etc
  • Long sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Long pants without holes
  • Full-fingered gloves
  • Over-the-ankle footwear

How quickly do I need to pay for the class?

It depends.

If you are registering for a class a month or more out, you'll have until 31 days before the class to make a payment. At that time, I'll attempt to contact you and confirm that you still want to take the class. You'll need to pay at that time or reschedule for a later date.

If it's within a month, you'll need to pay within 48 hours to hold your spot.

If you managed to jump into a spot that opened up the week before class, you'll need to pay immediately. The eCourse is required before class, and I won't send that out until you've paid.

Fortunately we now use Shop Pay, and you can spread your class fee into easily affordable payments. If you want to pay a different way, you can call or email to get an invoice mailed or meet for a cash payment.

Am I guaranteed to pass?

No. I have a good record of successful completions, but there is no guarantee. You must pass the riding and written evaluations to earn a completion card to get your endorsement.

Students get the coaching they need to be successful, but I can't guarantee that a student will be able to put that coaching into action. The biggest obstacles are fear and physical strength. You don't have to be that strong - we won't be picking up motorcycles and carrying them - but you do need to be in good health.

What if I show up without the required gear?

I can loan you a helmet. I have cheap sunglasses to give away. I may have a coat or sweatshirt laying around. I DO NOT have spare pants, gloves, or boots.

I hate to be so blunt about this, but students have shown up without REQUIRED gear. It is not optional gear. If you show up at the start of class without REQUIRED gear, you will not get to participate and will NOT be issued a refund.

To put this into context, if I allow someone to ride without gear, I can lose my certification. I'm not going to risk that. I'm also not going to make the rest of the class wait while you run over to Walmart and buy it. A $40 pair of boots at Walmart is cheaper than losing the cost of the class.

What if I'm late or don't show up?

You're out of luck. We will not wait. Plan on being at the range 15 minutes early. This isn't high school. You cannot miss any part of the class, and I am not going to make the others wait. You not showing up or being late and expecting to reschedule or get a refund is like you calling in sick to work and your coworker gets your pay taken out of his check.

Most Harley dealers in Colorado will allow you to reschedule; they also charge $400 or more and have corporate backing. If you think you will have trouble committing to showing up, that may be a better option for you.

What if my plans change?

You can reschedule or get a refund if you contact me a week or more in advance. For example, if you're in a Saturday-Sunday class that starts on the 10th, you would need to let me know by the 2nd. That gives me time to contact those on a waiting list or in later classes. If something unavoidable comes up later (NOT a concert/party/hangover/etc), give me a call, and I may have someone on a waiting list that can fill your spot at the last minute. In that case you can reschedule. It is not my desire for people to lose out, but there are expenses to cover whether you show up or not.

Darn, you sound so harsh with all these questions. Should I be afraid?

Absolutely not! My goal is for everyone to be successful and have a good time. 98% of the time, both of those objectives are met. You learn better if you're relaxes and are enjoying yourself.

I want to make sure that it's very clear what the expectations are. This is a very small mom & pop operation, and I can't afford to give money away or lose business unnecesarily. I've learned the hard way that I have to make these expectations known in as many ways as possible.

Is this the class for the helmet law waiver in Nebraska?

If you did not have an endorsement by May 1, 2024, then this is the class required to get the helmet law waiver.

If you did have a motorcycle endorsement before May 1, 2024, then you only need to take the MSF eCourse (<-click that link). That eCourse is between you and the MSF. I have nothing to do with registration, payment ($20), or your completion certificate.
